Bangkok Shell Museum appears to be a place addressing only conchologists and other shell collectors, and in a way it’s not untrue, a shell museum seems a geeky place to visit on a holiday, especially in a big city. However, this remarkably large collection of exquisite shells is displayed in a really intelligent way, explaining and describing how shells are just more than a beautiful objects or a delicacy on your plate.

The Bangkokian Museum in Bangrak is hard to find and is not even very well known. It’s a simple, discreet museum but the charm is in the pleasure of discovering this small frozen-in-time gem. In fact the Bangkokian museum, sometimes called ‘Bangkok Folk Museum’, consists mostly of two beautiful wooden houses preserved in perfect condition just the way they were last century.
The Bangkokian Museum is more of a charming stop than a real museum visit. But if you happen to explore this part of Bangkok riverside, it’s well worth it and makes a nice photo opportunity, especially if you have been to Bangkok several times before and are looking for something off the beaten track.

Cloud 47 is located at the top of the United Center office tower, Cloud 47 is quite different from any other rooftop you might have heard of or visited before. Usually it’s all posh and glitzy, with drink price list as high as the building and waitresses straight out of the movie makeup room, but here prices are surprisingly friendly, atmosphere is casual and a beer costs no more than 160 baht. The location right in the Centre of popular Silom Road, just past the famous Patpong night market and evening entertainment zone, is also quite convenient.

Kathmandu Art Gallery shies away from those sterile, white-washed and often uninspiring interiors you normally find in a more typical art gallery. Instead, Kathmandu flips the whole concept on its head, with the gallery space being a spectacle in itself; bright green wooden ceiling and walls, a clashing black and white American diner-style floor and vintage furniture scattered about the place really bring this quirky little gallery to life.
Opening Hours: 11:00-19:00 (closed Mondays) Address: 87 Pan Road, Bangkok Tel: +66 (0)2 234 6700
